Win11Debloat on Windows 10
Despite the name, Win11Debloat runs on Windows 10, and the project says so: “Win11Debloat works for both Windows 10 and Windows 11.” But many of its tweaks are for Windows 11 features that Windows 10 does not have. Here is exactly what applies on Windows 10, what is skipped, and the errors Windows 10 users run into.

Short answer
Does Win11Debloat work on Windows 10?
- Yes, on Windows 10 22H2 with the Windows PowerShell 5.1 that comes with it.
- 43 of 95 tweaks apply to Windows 10. The rest are for Windows 11 features such as Copilot, Recall and the new Start menu.
- Default mode applies 9 tweaks on Windows 10 instead of 16, and removes the same default apps.
-Sysprepdoes not work on Windows 10.
What Default mode does on Windows 10
Default mode reads its list of tweaks from a settings file and skips any whose build range does not include yours. On Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045) that leaves these 9:
- Turn off telemetry, tips and suggestions, and lock screen tips:
-DisableTelemetry,-DisableSuggestions,-DisableLockscreenTips - Turn off Bing in search and Edge's ads and news feed:
-DisableBing,-DisableEdgeAds - Widgets:
-DisableWidgets, which uninstalls the Windows Web Experience Pack if it is there - Hide the Meet Now button and the 3D Objects folder:
-HideChat,-Hide3dObjects - Show file extensions:
-ShowKnownFileExt
Skipped on Windows 10, because the features do not exist there: Copilot, Recall, Click to Do, the AI service, the Drag Tray, Store search suggestions and Modern Standby networking. The app removal is the same as on Windows 11: the 84 default apps, of which a Windows 10 PC usually has only some.
Which tweaks apply to Windows 10
The table shows every tweak and the Windows versions it is made for. The Windows 10 column is the one that matters here.
Five tweaks only for Windows 10
These clean up File Explorer clutter that Windows 11 no longer has:
-Hide3dObjects: hide the 3D Objects folder under This PC-HideMusic: hide the Music folder under This PC-HideIncludeInLibrary,-HideGiveAccessToand-HideShare: remove those entries from the right-click menu
Known errors on Windows 10, and fixes
“The remote procedure call failed” when removing apps for all users
On some Windows 10 22H2 builds, removing apps for all users failed with a remote procedure call error (in French: Échec de l'appel de procédure distante). The maintainer traced it to a bug in Windows' own Remove-AppxPackage that Windows 11 does not have. A Windows update fixed it: users confirmed it works from build 19045.5198 (update KB5046613). Install the latest Windows 10 updates first. If you cannot, choose to remove apps for the current user only. Issue #131.
“Removal failed. Please contact your software vendor.” (0x80070002)
On Windows 10, many default apps may report this error, and the run ends with Script completed with 18 error(s). It is a false alarm: the reporter checked and the apps were removed. The project has fixed the message in its unreleased code (#835). Until then you can ignore it. Issue #821.
“Operation timed out after 120 seconds” while removing Copilot
The Copilot app's removal through WinGet can hang on Windows 10 and time out. It is still an open issue. One user removed it by hand in PowerShell as administrator:
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Copilot | Remove-AppxPackageIssue #822. For other messages, see troubleshooting.
“Win11Debloat Sysprep mode is not supported on Windows 10”
-Sysprep only works on Windows 11. On Windows 10, apply the changes to each account with -User instead.
Windows 10 is out of support
Microsoft ended free support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. Win11Debloat still runs on it, but the maintainer has said that “Windows 10 is not really supported anymore”: fixes for Windows 10-only problems may be small or slow to arrive. If you are staying on Windows 10, debloating is fine, but keep installing the security updates you can get.
What we tested
We have not run Win11Debloat on Windows 10 ourselves: GitHub's hosted test machines only offer Windows 11 and Windows Server. Everything on this page comes from the release's own files and from the project's issue tracker, linked above. Our hands-on results for Windows 11 are on the test results page.
Questions
Is there a Windows 10 version of Win11Debloat?
No, the same script handles both. It started in October 2020 as Win10Debloat and was renamed on 26 July 2023. The commit that renamed it promised: “Nothing changes for windows 10 users, this script will continue to work.”
Does Win11Debloat work on Windows 10 LTSC?
It runs, but LTSC ships with very few of the apps it removes, so app removal does little. The privacy tweaks still apply. We have not tested LTSC.
Should I debloat Windows 10 before upgrading to Windows 11?
It does not help much. The upgrade installs a new Windows version, which brings back many apps and resets some settings. Debloat after the upgrade instead.
