How to read the ratings
- Safe to remove Games, trials, promos and apps Microsoft discontinued. Nothing else depends on them.
- Optional Real tools that some people use: Photos, Calculator, Paint, Outlook, OneDrive, Phone Link, OEM utilities.
- Not recommended Other parts of Windows or apps depend on these. That includes the Store, Edge, Get Help, Windows Terminal and the Xbox sign-in components.
Ratings, descriptions and the default selection come from Config/Apps.json in 2026.08.24. The notes are ours: each cites the project's issue tracker or our own test runs.
How the reinstall links were checked
For each app, we searched the Microsoft Store catalog and kept a listing only if its package family name matches the app's package name. For example, Windows Clock (9WZDNCRFJ3PR) is Microsoft.WindowsAlarms_8wekyb3d8bbwe. Apps without a verified listing are discontinued, OEM-only or region-specific, so they show no link rather than a guess.
Store catalog checked October 30, 2026.
Which of these apps are on your PC?
Most PCs have only a fraction of the list. On a clean Windows 11 Enterprise 25H2 machine, 13 of the 84 default apps were installed. To see yours, run this in PowerShell. No admin rights are needed, and nothing is changed:
Get-AppxPackage | Select-Object Name | Sort-Object NamePaste the output into the App safety checker. It matches your list against all 141 apps and flags the risky ones, then builds the -Apps list for a command. Or tick Only show installed apps in the wizard.
Apps removed by tweaks, not by the list
Three tweaks uninstall apps as part of what they do, even if you did not tick those apps. We saw this in Win11Debloat's own log on our Windows 11 test machine:
| Tweak | Also removes | In Default mode |
|---|---|---|
-DisableWidgets | Start Experiences App, Windows Web Experience Pack, Widgets Platform Runtime | Yes |
-DisableBing | Bing Search (Microsoft.BingSearch) | Yes |
-DisableCopilot | The Copilot app (Microsoft.Copilot and the Store version XP9CXNGPPJ97XX) | Yes |
How Win11Debloat removes apps
- Most apps (138 of 141) are Appx packages. Win11Debloat removes them with
Remove-AppxPackage. With "All users" it adds-AllUsersand also runsRemove-ProvisionedAppxPackage. That second command deletes the app from the Windows image, so new user accounts do not get it either. - Three apps (Copilot, Edge and OneDrive) are removed with
winget uninstall. These fail on PCs where WinGet is missing or outdated. Win11Debloat warns about this when it starts. - Edge also has a "force" path,
-ForceRemoveEdge, which runs Edge's own uninstaller after preparing the registry. - Who loses the app depends on Apps will be removed for: all users (default), only the current user, or only a chosen user.
Getting an app back
Use the Store link or the winget command in the table
Click Store to open the app's Microsoft Store page, or copy the winget command and run it in PowerShell. Both install the same verified package.
Sign in again where needed
Apps like To Do, Teams and Sticky Notes keep their data in your Microsoft account, so your lists and notes come back after you sign in.
For built-in components, repair Windows
The Microsoft Store and a few system components cannot easily be reinstalled. On Windows 11, Settings → System → Recovery → Fix problems using Windows Update reinstalls Windows and keeps your files and apps. That brings back built-in apps.
Our undo guide covers the registry side, and the undo builder writes a reinstall script for exactly the apps you removed.
Questions
Which Windows 11 apps are bloatware?
There is no official list. In Win11Debloat's list, the 84 apps in Default mode are the uncontroversial part. They are games (Candy Crush, Solitaire), promoted third-party apps (Spotify, TikTok, Netflix, Disney+), discontinued Microsoft apps (Cortana, the Bing apps, Skype) and tools most people never open, such as Feedback Hub and Power Automate. Everything else depends on how you use your PC.
Is it safe to remove all Windows 11 bloatware?
Removing everything rated "safe" is fine for almost everyone. Be selective with "optional" apps such as Photos, Snipping Tool and Phone Link, because you may use them without realizing. Leave the seven "not recommended" ones alone unless you know you do not need them.
Does Win11Debloat remove the Xbox app?
Not in Default mode. The old Xbox Console Companion is in the default list, because it is discontinued. The current Xbox app (Microsoft.GamingApp), Game Bar and the Xbox sign-in components are optional or not recommended. The Quick Select menu has an Xbox gaming apps preset that selects the app and both Game Bar overlays.
Does Win11Debloat remove HP, Dell or Lenovo apps?
Only if you select them. The list includes 26 OEM apps from HP, Dell, Lenovo and LG, and the Quick Select menu has an OEM software preset. They are rated optional, because some, like HP Power Manager or Lenovo Vantage, control battery and hardware settings.
Will removed apps come back after a Windows update?
Apps removed for "All users" are also removed from the Windows image, so ordinary updates do not bring them back. Major feature updates, which install a new Windows version, can bring some back. Running Win11Debloat again afterwards removes them again.
