Privacy and suggested content tweaks
This is the area most people run Win11Debloat for: less data sent to Microsoft, and no more tips, suggestions and ads. There are 8 tweaks. Default mode applies four of them. The other four have real trade-offs, such as losing all app notifications or the ability to find a lost laptop. Each is explained below, down to the individual registry values.
On this page 5 sections
The eight tweaks at a glance
| Tweak | What it does | Default | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Telemetry | Diagnostic data, advertising ID, activity history, app-launch tracking and 8 scheduled tasks | ● | None for most people. Shows “managed by your organization” |
| Suggestions | Tips, Start suggestions, Settings ads, sync provider ads, auto-installed suggested apps | ● | None |
| Lock screen tips | Fun facts and tips on the lock screen | ● | Also turns off the lock screen spotlight |
| Edge ads | Edge's news feed, shopping assistant, recommendations and more | ● | Edge says it is “managed by your organization” |
| Settings 365 ads | Microsoft 365 Copilot promotions on Settings Home | None | |
| Notifications | All app notifications, including Teams, WhatsApp, Discord and Slack | You will miss messages | |
| Location services | Windows location for every app | Maps, local weather and anything else that needs your location stop working | |
| Find My Device | Periodic location reports for Find My Device | You cannot locate a lost or stolen laptop |
What “Disable telemetry” actually changes
The name undersells it. -DisableTelemetry writes 15 registry values, and also disables 8 scheduled tasks that collect compatibility and usage data. Here they are in plain language, from the comments in the project's own .reg file:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Diagnostic data level | AllowTelemetry = 0, the lowest level. Only Enterprise and Education honour level 0. Home and Pro treat it as Required, the lowest level they allow. |
| Advertising ID for personalised ads in apps | Off |
| Tailored experiences based on your diagnostic data | Off |
| Online speech recognition | Off |
| Improve inking and typing, inking and typing personalisation, contact harvesting | Off (4 values) |
| Accepted privacy policy for personalisation | Reset |
| Track app launches to improve Start and search | Off |
| Activity history | Off, by policy |
| Feedback requests | Never |
| Edge: browsing data for personalisation, and Edge diagnostic data | Off, by policy (2 values) |
On our Windows 11 25H2 test PC, the 8 scheduled tasks were already disabled or missing on the test image, so only the registry changed. On a home PC, expect them to be switched off. Undoing the tweak in the wizard turns them back on. Test results.
What “Disable suggestions” covers
-DisableSuggestions writes 18 values. Together they switch off the places Windows promotes things:
- The welcome experience after updates, and “Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device”
- Suggestions and recommendations in Start
- Tips and suggestions while you use Windows, and suggested content in Settings
- Account notifications in Settings and Start
- Sync provider ads in File Explorer (OneDrive promotions)
- Automatic installation of suggested apps
- “Suggested” notifications, Windows Backup reminders, and Phone Link suggestions
None of these are needed for anything. This is the safest tweak in the list.
Every privacy tweak, in detail
Each card shows the switch, the exact registry values from the release's .reg file, and the undo file that reverses it.
Disable telemetry, tracking & targeted ads
This setting disables telemetry, diagnostic data collection, activity history, app-launch tracking, targeted ads and more. It limits the data that is sent to Microsoft about your device and usage. If you are a Windows Insider, updates may be blocked until optional diagnostic data collection is turned back on.
Tested alone on Windows 11 25H2 (build 26200.9711): changed 13 registry values.
The undo file reverted the change. 6 values came back differently from before, as the undo file writes Windows' standard value: TailoredExperiencesWithDiagnosticDataEnabled 2 → 1; HasAccepted not set → 1; Enabled not set → 1; RestrictImplicitInkCollection 0 → not set; RestrictImplicitTextCollection 0 → not set; Start_TrackProgs not set → 1.

Disable tips, tricks & suggested content throughout Windows
This setting removes many annoying distractions from Windows. This includes things like notifications, reminders and sync provider ads. It also prevents automated installation of suggested apps.

Questions
Does Win11Debloat stop all telemetry?
No tool can, short of blocking Microsoft's servers. It turns diagnostic data down to the lowest level your edition allows, switches off the optional data collection in Settings and disables the known collection tasks. On Home and Pro, Windows still sends the Required level, which Microsoft says is the minimum needed to keep Windows secure and updated.
Why does Settings say “Your organization prevents sending diagnostic data”?
Because the telemetry tweak sets a policy. That message is the sign it worked. More about that message.
Should I disable Find My Device?
Only if you never take the PC out of the house. Find My Device is the way to locate a lost or stolen laptop. Win11Debloat leaves it on in Default mode.
