Multitasking tweaks

Seven tweaks for window snapping and Alt+Tab. None is in Default mode. Useful if Snap layouts keep popping up when you move the mouse near the maximize button, or if Alt+Tab is cluttered with browser tabs.

Worth knowing

  • Window snapping (-DisableWindowSnapping) turns snapping off completely. It takes full effect after a restart.
  • Snap Assist suggestions (-DisableSnapAssist) stops Windows from suggesting other windows to fill the rest of the screen after you snap one.
  • Snap layouts (-DisableSnapLayouts) removes the layout flyout on the maximize button and at the top of the screen. Snapping by dragging still works.
  • Tabs in Alt+Tab: apps like Microsoft Edge can list their tabs in Alt+Tab. Choose none, 3 (Windows' default), 5 or 20.

Disable window snapping

This will turn off the ability to snap windows to the sides or corners of the screen.

This will turn off app suggestions when you snap windows to the sides or corners of the screen.

The undo file reverted the change. One value came back differently from before, as the undo file writes Windows' standard value: SnapAssist not set → 1.

This will turn off the snap layout flyout that appears when you hover over the maximize button or drag windows to the top of the screen.
